Pop quiz, hotshot. There’s a small company thinking about formally doing QGIS Support. Once he has enough answers the bomb might be armed. There are a crate full of live chickens on the bus headed towards a BBQ grill. WHAT DO YOU DO? – Apologies to Speed
For many you’re probably going to go: “I thought you were doing that”. I tried for a bit and stopped. I had a lot going on and didn’t put the time and effort into setting up the infrastructure to do it right. Not that there is less going on but I’ve had a few conversations and it’s had me thinking. The one thing I haven’t done is ask – is there a need for it? Half of me says yes…Half says no. Part of me thinks the community offerings are good enough and the other floats back to my corporate life where ‘If it’s free who do you call for support?”.
I try to remain pretty software neutral these days although I talk about QGIS quite a bit. It’s good territory to cover and there are a plethora of blogs and other things covering ESRI space. I tend to drift into things I find exciting and interesting. This weekend I was spending quite a bit of time problem solving in ArcGIS. I’ve actually about three posts I want to write covering fulcrum. Eh – there’s plenty of software and things to talk about. I don’t want to favor one over the other – but I would like to keep everything on equal footing. For me it helps to have a mix of software – which completely defies most corporate logic of “diversity costs money”.
So if you wouldn’t mind:
I’m leaving responses open – as in you can see them (since no personal information is kept). I’m pushing this toward more US based offerings. Not that I’m opposed to anyone that doesn’t speak english but you’re going to be stuck me with Google translate: Apoyaré su arroz con pollo en todas sus aguas de baño geográfica. Seriously – I’m not that bad but second languages aren’t a strong point. I struggle with english some days.
Thank you for your time!
