If I can be candid at this point – training is a biatch. I’ve went on tirades about advertising. It’s hard. I employ currently a three or four pronged approach: website, twitter, facebook, linkedin, and Google+, and newsletter. I think that was five. The assumption is that info will filter out to those who need it. Out of all of that – Word of mouth trumps everything else.
So – I’ve held classes in the past and some have filled and some have done nothing. Some – like this one – are actually making an impact and people are signing up. What was a silly idea “Lets Teach QGIS” is actually gaining traction. It’s gained enough to start to fill this class and it’s led to a Part II we are currently writing and I think through an email this morning I just pitched Part III: PostGIS and Geoserver
