I’m jumping the announcement just a bit because I can’t tell the difference between “publish” and “Save Draft” – but QGIS 2.8 it’s slowly making it way into the wild. My OSGEO Install updated this morning. I think the standalone installers haven’t been updated as well as UbuntuGIS – but it’s slowly making it out. So don’t get worked up if it’s not there yet – IT’S THE WEEKEND.
Excuse the poor screenshot. So 2.8 marks the first Long term release. I get to watch from the sidelines while the debate happened – it’s a very good thing. Every third release is a LTR. So if the four month release schedule was too much – this might be a tad bit better. Of course my question is do I keep releasing the Intro to QGIS class for each release or just for 2.8? Who knows – The Introduction To QGIS has been updated to 2.8 and will be released online shortly.
