Henry County 911 contacted NRGS about moving their GIS system to QGIS/PostGIS/Geoserver/Fulcrum. The database had to conform to the State of Tennessee’s NG911 System.
Over the course of a few weeks in 2018 NRGS helped to:
- Install a Postgresql/PostGIS running on Ubuntu
- QGIS was installed on multiple computers
- Fulcrum was installed on their mobile devices.
- Install Geoserver to push out web services
As a Diagram the install looks like this:
This Server set up works with the State 911 system and also is able to ingest data from ESRI software as well as web services from the state. Multiple editors are now able to correct address data as well as their dispatch system to pull shapefiles from the system. They can produce maps, leverage the State of TN’s LIDAR data, and get data updated quickly for the citizens of Henry County.
The commercial version of this was well over $30,000. We were able to get this working for less than $1000 dollars in software purchases.
