Topic:  GIS indoors, or more specifically, GeoMetri, which is used by businesses to understand how people move through their buildings.

Chris Bupp of Geographic Information Services, Inc. (GISi) will present on how GeoMetri allows users to compare and measure activity across different time periods or building areas as well as understand real-time traffic patterns for any space, at any time, in a cost-effective and highly accurate solution. GeoMetri operates using Wi-Fi technologies that analyze pedestrian foot traffic in venues like shopping malls, grocery stores, and other types of businesses. As visitors’ mobile devices search for wireless networks to communicate with, they give off “pings” at regular intervals. These bits of information (including signal strength) can be collected and anonymously aggregated for use in physical analytics. GeoMetri is an HTML 5 application compatible with desktop, tablet, or mobile devices. GISi received the Innovation Application award at the 2014 Esri Partner Conference. The award is given to a company with an original idea with local relevance and value while demonstrating a great design and user experience.

Chris Bupp is a Senior Application Developer and has been with GISi for over three years. He enjoys the challenge of solving big problems – the ones that others haven’t been able to work out. Chris is a leader in innovation and optimization . . . how to fix things and how to make things work faster.
