North River Geographic Systems, Inc is a consulting company in the southeastern US. We work primarily with Free and Open Source Software for Geoinformatics (FOSS4G).
For over 12 years NRGS has provided consulting, training and support services for clients. We’ve been on the ground in the Caribbean. We’ve worked remotely for clients all over the world.
NRGS was born somewhat in the depths of a production mapping department in the Federal Government. There we worked on environmental issues for the government, defense work, and work for the organization. NRGS started as a hobby to see what could be done. The owner, Randal Hale, went full time in 2009 and worked for several years as an ESRI Business Partner and Trainer. NRGS changed direction in 2014 and refocused the business around bigger data/clients and Open Source Software for GIS.
NRGS follows three simple things:
- Data is everything: Your data is the most important part of your geospatial endeavors. Clean data is the most important thing you can have.
- Process is greater than software. We used FOSS4G software as our chosen toolset but the processes we develop can be adapted to any software.
- Documentation for the data and process.
We’d love to work with you and solve problems. In 12+ years we’ve worked with:
- Forestry Firms
- Territorial Governments
- County 911s
- Private Companies
- Non Profits
- State/County Governments
These companies have been scattered from the Caribbean to Canada.
