Another one?
No.
I should say one without tornadoes. The class on April 27th 2014 got canned due to weather. So I’m rescheduling it for a Friday May 9th 2014. So – if you are wondering if you want to go – seats still remain. I can add about 2 to 3 more people. One of the big things that was decided is lunch is at Brewhaus.
So – one more time:
This 1-day workshop is designed to introduce you to QGIS 2.2, an alternative Open Source GIS software for viewing, editing, and managing spatial data in a wide variety of commonly used vector and raster formats. It is lightweight, flexible, and can be installed on Windows, MacOSX, Linux, as well as Android devices. Best of all, most will find QGIS to be extremely affordable while still providing a growing list of features and functionality.
Length of workshop: Approximately 8 hours but can vary depending on attendees.
What to expect from this workshop: Learning new software can be intimidating for some especially if you are used to a certain product that you have been using for years. (Anyone remember switching from ArcView GIS 3.x to ArcGIS Desktop 8.x?) Or perhaps you are new to GIS and looking for an affordable, user-friendly alternative to other popular GIS software. This is an introduction to QGIS that will get you familiar with the interface and many tools and features that will assist you with viewing, editing, analyzing, creating, managing, and serving GIS data in a variety of formats. Though QGIS is definitely a powerful tool to add to your GIS toolkit, it has some limitations and challenges that will be discussed in this workshop.
At the end of this workshop, you should have a good understanding of what QGIS consists of, pros and cons when using it, and feel informed to make your own decisions about how to incorporate QGIS into your project workflows.
Who might benefit from this workshop: Veteran GIS professionals, new GIS users, and anyone in between would benefit from this class.
Level of experience required for this workshop: Some prior knowledge/understanding/education in GIS is highly recommended. While not absolutely necessary, some of the terminology and concepts discussed may diminish the experience and overall usefulness of the workshop. However, if you are new to GIS and would like to attend this workshop, please contact us in advance to discuss how we can help you become workshop-ready!
Cost to attend this workshop: Workshops are held throughout the Southeast with a maximum of 10 seats available at $325 per seat
