MAGS is headed into Marietta On Wednesday to the Two Birds Tap House. Anyway – I’m headed down. If you’re in the Atlanta Area and care to joins us please show up.
I know – I’ve been a bit negligent in the “news bringing” as of late. Well – I won’t be there as I’ll be at FOSS4G in Boston. If you are in the Atlanta Area and want to meet up with some fellow GIS people – show up and grab a drink and chat.

3575 Durden Drive Northeast, Brookhaven, GA
We’ll be in Brookhaven on Tuesday the 15th,at Marlow’s Tavern on Johnson Ferry, and maybe grab some frozen treats at Southern Custard next-door afterward.
Looking forward to hearing about everyone’s Eclipse plans, and about the Esri UC if you went this year.
See you on the 15th!
We’ll be back in Grant Park to kick off the summer, but please note that we’re doing it on WEDNESDAY, and not Thursday, this month. Please come out and join us at the Memorial Drive outpost of Doc Chey’s Noodle House. This location has a full bar and, if the weather is nice, outdoor seating.

This month we’ll be at Mason Tavern on Clairmont, just off of N. Decatur Rd. They do a decent burger, and if you want to hang around after 9:30, they’ll have live jazz. And in case you’ve been under a rock lately, there’s a hole in the highway that no number of metal plates can cover, so unless they’ve installed the stunt ramps by then, do consider MARTA or rideshare if your trip there might be affected by the I-85 closure.

Good people – If you are around Atlanta in on the 19th of January 2017 show up. My plan is to make a quick jump down.
I know this one has already been making the rounds but I thought I would toss my .02 cents worth. FOSS4G 2017 is going to be quite the meeting. I just received an update and added to the list of Keynotes is Richard Stallman.
I’ve been a linux user since the days of “You’ve got to compile sound into the kernel if you want to listen to music”. So I’m familiar with Stallman and the other players in the open source game. I had the chance back in late 2014 to see him at the University of Georgia. Somehow the Linux Users group Got him there to speak and it was a huge talk. If you’ve ever been marginally interested in Open Source and “why” – then you need to hear him speak. For all the open source geo I deal with his name doesn’t come up a lot. So that’s going to be a powerful addition to the talks in Boston.
